First Timers Fest Alumni Gig!
Event Information
About this event
It's been a long time friends, but First Timers season is once again upon us, and this time its (mostly) in real life. To celebrate, we are putting on a gig about it! Check out some bands that played First Timers Fest in previous years, meet the some of the organisers, and say hello to our new venue The Amersham Arms! We hope it'll be inspiring.
The bands:
Irn Brunette
Formed for First Timers 2017, Irn Brunette are a glam punk band. They're angry, gentle, radical and want to remind you that you are FABULOUS.
Trouble Wanted
Formed for First Timers Fest 2019, Trouble Wanted are a group of queer lonely cowgirls making dancy punk so shine up those dancing shoes!
Charmpit
We are so excited to be joined by Charmpit - one of our fave DIY punk popstars formed in 2016 - they will be playing their first gig back since covid and it's gonna be MAGICAL
Tickets are a fiver but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Please email us at dsflfirsttimers@gmail.com for a free ticket.
What is First Timers Fest?
First Timers fest is an annual series of workshops that ends in a Fest where every band plays its first show! Our aim is to diversify and demystify DIY music.
People of any musical experience and of any identity can attend our workshops, though they are largely aimed at beginners. To play the fest itself your band needs to meet two or more of the following criteria:
- One or more people have never been in a band before
- One or more people have never performed that role in a band before (e.g if a drummer is having a go at vocals)
-One or more people belongs to a marginalised group, for example, they are a woman, a person of colour, LGBTQIA+, disabled, working class, neurodivergent.
!!!Covid Policy!!!
This is the covid era and there is risk involved in attending events. Please look after everyone by taking the following precautions:
For entry please provide proof of a negative lateral flow test taken within 48 hours of the event. You can order Lateral flow tests here: https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow.... Details on how to report the results can be found here- www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result.
Please do not bring the actual test with you- you can show the confirmation text or email that you get when you report a negative lateral flow. If you have any questions email us at dsflfirsttimers@gmail.com.
We encourage you to wear masks when indoors/in the crowd and are selling tickets at reduced capacity.
We reccomend that you don't attend lots of crowded indoor events within short periods of time, and that you take lateral flow tests the day after our event, and four days after our event.
Accessibility:
The gig will take place in the back room of the venue. There are a few small steps and ridges between the main door and back room, but we can let you in through a side door if that's an issue- please email ahead at dsflfirsttimers@gmail.com. There is a wheelchair accessible toilet in the back room, and all toilets will be made gender neutral for our events. See less
