Join me for this immersive 3-day course designed to help beginner sewers refine their technique, improve garment fit, and achieve a professional-looking finish.
You’ll build a personal library of essential sewing techniques through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, using your own or a studio machine and sample calico.
This course is ideal for beginner dressmakers (aged 16+) who can confidently thread a sewing machine and sew in a straight line.

- Choosing the right size & achieving a great fit
- Understanding pattern terminology
- Common pattern alterations (i.e altering necklines & sleeves, adding pockets)
- Seam types and when to use them
- Hemming methods
- Topstitching techniques and edge finishing
- Constructing darts and inserting invisible zips
- Setting in sleeves without puckers
- Choosing interfacing and sewing facings
- Sewing professional buttonholes and buttons
- Avoiding stretched necklines & other common pitfalls
There will be time to stop for lunch each day, please bring something to eat with you. Refreshments, such as tea, coffee juice & biscuits will be available.
*Please note - the studio is accessed via stairs & the toilets are downstairs. There is free off street parking outside the studio.
I try to calculate how long a workshop will be and plan to finish in the allocated time but this isn’t always possible, If you are unable to finish in the workshop time I will make sure you are confident with your project to be finished at home
Refund Policy
Payment in full is required at the time of booking to secure your place. If you find that you can't attend 7 days or more before the start of your class you will receive a full refund less EvenBrite Fees. Unfortunately, I cannot offer refunds for cancellations with less than 1 weeks notice.
