Event description

Description

Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa in Welsh) is the highest mountain in Wales and England. It's one of our most famous and regonizable landmarks and is well worth a visit. Standing tall over the village of Llanberis, Snowdon is a part of a close-knit family of jagged peaks and can offer views of Snowdonia, Anglesey, Pembrokeshire and Ireland. There are 6 paths to summit this beauty, and we will take the Llanberis Path.

Llanberis Path is the longest and most gradual of the six main paths to the summit of Snowdon and offers fantastic views. It is probably one of the easiest paths. Originally, tourists were carried up this path on ponies and mules, and to this day it continues to be a pony path.

Trek overview

  • Llanberis Path Distance: 9 miles (there and back)

  • Total Climb: 975m (3,199ft)

  • Time: Approx 6 hours (there and back)

  • Start and Finish: Far end of Victoria Terrace, Llanberis, off the A4086, about 150 metres from the Snowdon Mountain Railway Station, postcode LL55 4TT.

  • Parking: Numerous car parks in Llanberis (LL55 4TD)

  • Intensity: Hard

  • Who can do this: Anyone! We believe the only limitations exist in your mind. With the appropriate gear and a go-getter mindset you can accomplish this trek. The oldest summitteer last year was 73 year old, and the youngest was 19 months old.

Accommodation: 2 Nights Bed & Breakfast fully covered in registration fees. Furnished comfortable hostels. More details to follow. PLEASE NOTE: NEW OVERFLOW VENUE ACCOMMODATION SECURED COSTS MORE and is One Hour Drive to Start of Trek

Transport Options: We will drive up on Saturday morning and depart from Wales on Monday morning following brunch. Transport costs will be in addition to Registration fees. Below are the three transport options in order of preference:

  1. Personal Vehicle: If you choose to drive your own vehicle to Wales, and offer to carry fellow trekkers with you, we recommend they contribute £15-£20 per person towards your car wear & tear, in addition to the fuel costs that will be equally split amongst all passengers per vehicle. To keep the cost breakdown simple, we recommend you return in the same vehicle you got to Wales in to fairly cover costs of the driver. (Best option cost-wise)

  2. Car Hire: A 7- or 9-seater van will depart from Chiswick W4 2TS at 11am on Saturday 25 May, if you would like to join this inform the FITBANKER Team ASAP. First come first served. Additional vehicles may be hired depending on numbers. In all instances, car hire and fuel costs will be equally split amongts all passengers.

  3. Train: Doable, although it is worth noting a cab, at the indivudal's own expense, will be needed to get around Wales.

  • Cancellations: You can cancel and get a refund minus £20 administration fees per person up until Friday 10th May. Any cancellations after Friday 10th May will not be refunded.
