Fitness In Mind™ Brentwood Cluster Club Forum
Thu 18 May 2017, 13:00 – 14:30 BST
Fitness In Mind™ does Cluster Clubs
The Fitness In Mind™ Cluster Club programme aims to establish a network of sports clubs across Brentwood that support people who are experiencing mental health problems to start or simply maintain a routine of regular physical activity. Our long-term vision is a national programme committed to improving mental, physical and social wellbeing, using physical activity and peer support to provide a happier and healthier community with strong social cohesion.
The Mental Health Charter for Sport launched a new sporting approach to tackling mental health, and has seen the Government's Minster for Sport and Sport England release their long-term strategy listing mental wellbeing as a key objective. Changes in funding and safeguarding highlight the need for sports clubs and coaches to pro-actively support both physical and mental wellbeing in the Sport & Leisure Industry.
Fitness In Mind™ Brentwood is a health and wellbeing programme funded by Sport England which offers local sports clubs the chance to access FREE Sported Membership, FREE Mental Health First Aid Training, FREE Peer Champion Volunteers, and support from the main hub at The Brentwood Centre.
We will be holding Cluster Club forums on a quarterly basis from the main hub at The Brentwood Centre, and approving eighteen Cluster Clubs over the next two years. These open forums are FREE to attend, for any club already signed up as a Cluster Club or for those interested in becoming a Cluster Club, to share stories and ask any questions. Your club will become part of the Fitness in Mind™ Network bringing you new members, funding opportunities and press coverage. On completing your Cluster Club agreement, the Fitness in Mind™ Brentwood team will assign you a FREE Peer Activator who will work with you and your Peer Champion over a three months period to ensure any questions are answered and help you to promote your own physical activities for mental wellbeing.
We are very excited about working with you and are looking forward to seeing you on Thursday 18th May for our second Cluster Club forum at The Brentwood Centre.
