Five to Thrive: A model and approach to promoting connected relationships
Overview
As part of the North Somerset Early Years and Childcare Strategy 2023-2026 we are committed to embedding the Five to Thrive model of brain development and connected relationships across all of our services and partner organisations. This will enable all health professionals, practitioners and volunteers engaging with North Somerset families to be using a common language when talking about brain development and parents connecting with their babies/children.
This full day training is for managers and practitioners including those who work one to one with families, thinking systemically about their practice. The training focuses on actively noticing the relational needs of the child, their families, the broader community and their own human needs (and the needs of their colleagues). The focus for this course is promoting healthy, need meeting connections right across the system.
•The Five to Thrive model is a way of understanding how connected relationships are fundamental to human wellbeing and help us build resilient communities.
•The Five to Thrive building blocks describe a sequence of relational activities that build healthy brains in young children and maintain healthy brain function throughout life.
•Respond · Cuddle · Relax · Play · Talk.
•These are our ‘building blocks for a healthy brain’.
This is a free training course, we ask for two working days notice if you are unable to attend. Failiure to give notice or non attendance of the course will incur a £50 admin fee.
