Event Information
About this Event
Who's this training workshop for?
Want to have conversations with others about ending online abuse? Do you want to develop your confidence in talking about OBGV, and educate yourself and others? Want to know the ways you can have a flourishing online presence specific to you? Then this one hour free online workshop is for you!
About this training workshop
Sadly, evidence shows that Black women are 84% more likely to be mentioned in abusive or problematic tweets than white women. Our new Fix The Glitch Toolkit has been created and reviewed by experts to specifically help Black women and non-binary people who want to help end OGBV against Black women but may not know where to begin. We campaign for both government and tech companies to implement systematic change, and raise awareness of online abuse so that we can make the online space safe for all. In the meantime, this workshop will enable participants to have meaningful and important conversations about OBGV.
In this one hour interactive session you will learn:
- How OGBV impacts Black women
- The ways in which you can use the Fix The Glitch Toolkit for meaningful discussions
- About the importance of digital self care and how to support Black women
One hour can change a lot
In 2019, 100% of our workshop participants said they gained skills that made them safer and more resilient online. 93% left feeling safer expressing themselves online and 85% reported improved confidence levels using social media.
“The Glitch webinar was a really comprehensive introduction to online safety for marginalised voices with strong digital presence, delivered in under an hour”- Sabrina, 2019
