'Fix your Clothes' Workshop at Whitehall Historic House
About this event
'Fix your Clothes' Workshop
As part of London Climate Action Week, get ahead of the curve, and support the circular economy!
In this 'Fix your Clothes' workshop hosted by Whitehall Historic House, we'll give you an introduction to the repair skills of darning and patching, and provide you with some of the materials you need to get started.
Darning is a classic repair technique used to mend holes in knitted and woven fabrics, it's perfect for fixing moth-eaten or well-worn jumpers and slippers. Patching can be used to fix holes in all kinds of clothes including jeans, outerwear jackets, and light cotton shirts.
Each participant will receive a kit to use during the workshop, the kit will include a selection of woven and knitted fabric patches, 1 cotton yarn, 1 woollen yarn, 1 regular sewing thread, 2 needles, and an instructional card for each technique for you to look back at after the workshop.
About Fast Fashion Therapy
Fast Fashion Therapy is a sewing workshop that encourages the repair, upcycling, and remodeling of used clothes; looking to break our habit to always buy new.
A collaboration between Eleanor & Sarah, the original idea for the name came from creating a workshop space that acted as a practical therapy for our collective addiction to fast fashion. The workshop also offers a therapeutic space for slowing down and taking a more mindful approach to fashion.
