Description
The Peña Flamenca de Londres is delighted to welcome back to the stage Nanako Aramaki with her brand-new company of young international musicians. Nanako is a Japanese-Canadian flamenco dancer based in London, giving regular bata de colaclasses at Escuela de Baile and performing throughout the city. Internationally, Nanako tours regularly with Flamenco Rosario in North America and is a sought-after performer and instructor in Germany.
Accompanying her on stage is local talent Matthew Birch from London, who studied flamenco guitar at the Rotterdam Conservatory where he graduated at the top of his class. His exceptional talent and skills have led him to perform alongside Paco Peña, Angel Muñoz, José Manuel León, Alicia Carrasco, and Antonio Campos.
Joining Matthew as second guitarist and cajon player is Johannes ‘Josel’ Ratsch, one of the leading flamenco guitarists in Germany. Josel is a member of Mestizo Flamenco with Nanako and is involved in many other successful projects including ‘Suena Flamenco’ with our singer for this evening, María Mellado Prenda. Now a rising artist in Germany, María studied classical guitar and music theory at “La Raza” Conservatory before honing her flamenco canté skills at the Fundación Cristina Heeren in her hometown, Seville.
María’s beautiful singing voice matches Nanako’s feminine movements perfectly, both of which will be complemented by Matthew’s masterful technique and Josel’s powerful rhythms. The four will stretch the limits of puro flamenco and showcase their love for the art form at the peña this evening.
