Book a personalised day for up to two people.
We begin with a brief introduction to the equipment and safety procedures. You will then work side-by-side with the instructor as she demonstrates and explains the various bead making techniques. Some of the areas we will explore are:
- Consistently forming a good base bead
- Making and Applying Frit
- Making/Pulling stringer / Applying stringer decoration
- Making Dots, layering dots
- Cutting hot Glass: Make a little flower
- Sculpting with a graphite paddle: Make a little hart
- Encasing your beads in glass
- Working with Gold and Silver leaf
And of course all of the beads you make are yours to keep.
Our bead making facilities are available for hire, so you can come into the studio and practice in your own time once you are suitably experienced.

Louise Ashton Design, run by Nathalie, has set her atelier in the beautiful Mardleybury Gallery, an art and crafts gallery housed in a converted barn situated in Datchworth, between the towns of Hertford, Stevenage and Welvyn Garden City in the county of Hertfordshire.
Its a wonderfully eclectic place where creative people can express themselves, source information, network with others and showcase their work.
As an artist in residence Nathalie is demonstrating, working but also giving workshops !
