#FlashHacks: Mapping corporate networks of the largest Canadian public companies
Sunday, 24 May 2015 from 12:30 to 18:00 (CDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Come and join us for a day of mapping the corporate network of the largest public companies in Canada and releasing this as open data. We’ll be looking over company filings by picking subsidiaries to find hierarchy information. By the end of the event, we’ll have a rich open dataset and a visualisation that displays the complex network like this: https://opencorporates.com/companies/nz/384327/network [click on Update as a Network]
We’ll be picking a few companies from the top 10 of largest public companies in Canada: Royal Bank of Canada, Bank of Nova Scotia, Toronto-Dominion Bank, Bank of Montreal, Imperial Oil, CIBC, Suncor Energy, BCE Inc, Canadian National Railway and Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan.
What do you need to bring? Drop in with your laptop, charger and enthusiasm. This event is a part of the Map the Banks campaign by OpenCorporates & partners such as Open North to liberate all financial licenses so we can map what the global financial industry looks like.
