As part of Wandsworth African Caribbean Food Month - and the Council's Black History Month and London Borough of Culture Celebrations, we invite you to discover the rich heritage of Tooting's African and Caribbean communities.
During the tour, which is being led by Geoff Simmons (Planet Tooting) and Dawn Burton (Caribburton Catering), you will visit and hear the stories of local food businesses run by families and individuals from across the African and Caribbean diaspora such as: Kimmie's Jerk Joint, Elsa's Kitchen, Pepi's, the Lone Fisherman, Sunyani Market, Ital Vital and Mixed Blessings Bakery - who will provide a glimspe into their heritage.
Through conversations with these chefs, cooks, producers and shop owners, you will discover the personal and culinary narratives that bind generations and cultures together.
You will also get to sample delicious tastings and flavours while learning about some of the rich African Caribbean culinary traditions that are deep-rooted in Tooting.
The meeting point for this tour is 1pm Tooting Broadway Station. Please remember to bring your ticket.
