About this event

Hobbies • Other

In this 1 day workshop participants will be instructed in how to make traditional dollies out of flax straw: starting with basic weavings such as the Cat’s Paw, Gentleman’s Favour and Spiral and leading to the more technically challenging Welsh Fan. These decorative straw works can be embellished with ribbons or left plain. Join us in this relaxed, friendly workshop and learn about an endangered heritage craft. Participants will take home a Welsh Fan and a variety of smaller dollies.

We will learn about the meaning of this tradition and delve into the wonderful history and folklore of corn dolly making.

Maximum of 5 participants per class.

Ideally there needs to be at least 3 people for the class to go ahead.
