Event Details

Professor Walker is Director of Research and manages the International Business and Strategy unit at Henley Business School at the University of Reading. This workshop will provide innovative ideas for finding the most appropriate flexible working for your organisations. His co-author, Dr Fontinha wrote “Four Better, Four Worse”, providing evidence-based, positive examples of flexible working which improves productivity, reduces absence and works for the multi-generational workforce. Their research on innovative methods for flexible working was cited both in People Management and over 100 other news outlets. In this session, he will provide an update on the research findings on considering more effective flexible working from which staff and the organisation gain benefits. He will explain how improvements in flexible working offers should be identified, explored, managed and discussed.

This event forms part of a series under the running title “Age is just a number” offering members a range of topical subjects for both generalists and specialists. You will be supporting your Continuing Professional Development because through working with the facilitator, you will understand how to be:

  • Customer first: designing effective processes which benefit employees and the organisation
  • Innovative: working with the latest theories on effective employer brand offers for employees and managers
  • Collaborative: learning from good practices in organisations including practical analysis of effective processes
  • Impactful: learning how the changes improved organisational outcomes
  • Expert: explaining the practical applications of better flexible working systems

Professional photography and video production will be taking place at the event, and these images may be used on future promotional materials for CIPD. Please note that by attending the event, you are giving your consent for your image to be used on any CIPD promotional materials.
