Well, what a year we've had! When we launched the Flight Free 2020 pledge, no one could have predicted what would happen next...

While you might think we're happy that so many people stayed grounded this year, it was under very difficult circumstances for many people, so let's knock this year on the head and look forward to brighter things in 2021.

Our VIRTUAL PARTY will be a celebration of the people who have supported our campaign this year – and a little insight into the world of flight free for those who might be curious.

Our director Anna will reflect on the Flight Free 2020 campaign, and we'll be welcoming special guest speaker Maja Rosén, the founder of the international Flight Free movement. We will also hear short talks from:

• Helen Coffey, deputy head of travel at the Independent
• Peter and Christine Lloyd, who cycled from Hadrian's Wall to the Great Wall of China and took a cargo ship home
• Roger Tyers, who went by train to undertake research in China
• Nina Vinther, a classical singer who encouraged her choir to do a UK tour instead of their Canada tour (which of course didn't happen but that's another story)
• Etienne Stott, Olympic Gold medallist and XR activist
• Armelle Ferguson, sustainability consultant and member of the Flight Free UK team

Expect some fun and games – and it being the year of the Zoom Quiz, we couldn't resist doing our own mini version.

All this will take around an hour, but there will probably be some stragglers propping up the dancefloor so please feel free to stay on with us and continue the party afterwards.
