Flipping the Narrative - Sampling Words Workshop.
In this hands-on, thought-provoking workshop, artist and facilitator Sean Dendere invites you to reclaim the narrative. Together, we’ll explore how mainstream media constructs identities and communities, and we’ll use those very materials — newspapers, headlines, and images — as raw material to cut, remix, and reframe.
Using collage as both a creative and critical tool, you’ll be guided to sample words and visuals from newspapers to craft your own counter-narratives. Whether bold, poetic, satirical or defiant, your piece will challenge how stories are framed — and who gets to author them.
This is a space for reflection, experimentation, and expression. No prior experience needed — just curiosity, scissors, and the will to flip the script.
