A day of informing, inspiring and illuminating encounters set in the water meadows of Sweffling, Suffolk.

About this event

World in Motion: Journeys, Exile, Migration and Flight

Covid-19 briefly pressed pause on travel, but the world has never been in greater motion than it is now.

From trade to tourism, bird migration, the perennial nature of pilgrimage, and mass movement due to conflict, climate collapse or economic need, movement is central to human and non-human life on earth. This year's festival considers these themes in six conversations with acclaimed authors, activists, thinkers and practitioners, including William Atkins, Julia Blackburn, Justin Butcher, Hugh Brody, Xiaolu Guo, David Herd (Refugee Tales), Pious Keku (Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group), Helen Macdonald, Chris Maloney, Victoria Preston and Vron Ware.

In an intimate converted barn, in a beautiful Suffolk setting, it promises to be a day of informing, inspiring and illuminating encounters.

A ticket includes access to all events across the day, and tea and coffee.
