Description
FLOURISH is a multi-sector collaboration based in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. Co-funded by the UK government, the three-year project, worth £5.5 million, seeks to maximise the benefits of connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) for users and transport authorities, by developing services and capabilities that link user needs and system requirements.
FLOURISH explores how CAV technology can be harnessed to enhance and enable mobility for socially isolated groups, contributing to the development of a stronger and more inclusive society.
The project also investigates the robust wireless communication of data between the vehicle and the roadside infrastructure, enabling the future real-time communication of journey information to users.
The learnings from FLOURISH will enable the optimisation of regional traffic management systems.
FLOURISH is extending the position of the West of England as a centre of excellence for the safe trialling of CAVs, providing a road map for the safe integration of CAVs within our transport infrastructure.
