About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

The community projects that have been developed around the world through Dr. Elizabeth Sawin’s “Multisolving” process are inspiring and incredibly impactful.

The Ciclovía Bogotá project in Colombia, for example, closes 75 miles of roadways in the city to cars on Sundays and holidays to encourage recreation and reduce air pollution, noise, and get people active to help obesity and chronic disease.

In Japan, the Green Curtains initiative regulates indoor air temperatures, promotes healthy diets, and reduces pollution by growing decorative and edible climbing plants on the exterior walls of buildings.

There are many other inspiring case studies and through Dr. Sawin and her team’s work with communities, we have been inspired to think about what kind of initiative we could pilot here in Brighton.

We will be trialing an initiative using the Multisolving Flower Framework which really focuses on the benefits of sustainability projects for a whole range of stakeholders from grassroots community groups, through government, health, education and corporate partners.

To trial the Flower Framework, we are looking to get people from very different backgrounds and with different expertise in the room to workshop an ‘investment/proposition’ that will bring lasting, equitable and impactful benefits to our city and our communities in Brighton and Hove.

Friends’ Meeting House from 5:30-7:30pm:

Ahead of attending, it would be great if you could complete this quick survey (less than a minute to complete with just 2 questions!) which will give us a steer on the kind of projects that might be close to your heart.

We are looking forward to hearing from you and working with you to create something really impactful for our community.
