Much of the current web design conversation focusses on a web where pages respond to different devices. But what about adapting styles to content too? And how do I build these techniques into my design process? This month we offer a look at the web page in flux.

Designing For The Responsive Web

It’s all too easy to get caught up in fancy new web development techniques and forget that the responsive approach also requires a different mindset during the design process. Focusing on design principles for multiple devices, and discussing how we can fit responsive design into our process, I want to help break down the walls we’ve been hitting with concepts, clients and our own creativity.

About Laura

Laura Kalbag (@laurakalbag) is a designer easily excited by web design and development. Among her list of ever-changing pet subjects are mobile web, semantic web, web fonts and WordPress, but she's really fascinated by anything in the areas of web, mobile and design.

Laura has been a freelancer for the whole of her professional life. She revels in working with small and meaningful clients, creating websites, apps, icons, illustrations and the odd logo.

CSS3: The Boring Bits

It's the shiny that gets the most attention, but the nuts-and-bolts features in the CSS3 spec can be just as exciting as animations, transitions, and gradients - if you're that way inclined.

About Peter

Peter Gasston is a web developer, writer, public speaker, and author of The Book of CSS3. He blogs at Broken Links and tweets as @stopsatgreen.

Organizer

London Web Standards

London Web Standards brings together web professionals who are working for a better web. Our monthly meetups provide them with an opportunity to teach, inspire, learn, network and debate.

Each meetup features a speaker drawn from our membership or the wider standards community. The talks cover a range of topics including HTML5, JavaScript, YQL, accessibility, web fonts, UX and front-end performance.

Come along, drink some beer (or your beverage of choice) and exchange ideas with other web developers, designers and professionals who are as passionate about the web as you are.
