Upswing are a London-based producing company forging the future of contemporary circus. Their workshops use the core principles of circus disciplines - balance, stability and awareness. They have refined this programme for older participants.
'Flying and Falling' will be an opportunity to try aerial dance on fabric hammocks, learning core skills in aerial dance. Working in a dynamic and playful context you will explore leaving the floor, spinning and balancing on fabric loops lead by an experienced and friendly instructor. You will then move onto the aerial equipment with a skills progression that moves from exploring weight placement supported by the silk loop to more challenging aerial skills. Participants are invited to participate at a level that feels appropriate from them with direction from the instructor, you can join us for the warm up and then watch the rest of the session or you can come in and take your first steps to becoming a full time aerial dance master.

You can book to participate and you can book to participate in the warm up activities and discussion but then to observe. We think this event will be of interest to falls prevention workers, health professionals, circus workers and trainers, and events programmers.
