Event description

Description

QSOE are joined by special guests on stage as they perform tracks from the new album ' Wax Lyrical ' along with previous material from over the past few years. There will also be three fantastic support acts including satirical singer songwriter Chris Tavener.

An alternative folk band from Wigan
The band was formed in 2013 and has featured a variety of musicians and song writers, they played locally perfecting their show then started to expand by taking it to larger and further afield audiences.
QSOE have played main stage along side artists from all over the world at festivals such as the Ukulele Festival of Scotland and the Grand Northern Ukulele Festival.
The Wigan band has released three full studio albums of original music and one live album, a their latest EP release ‘ Day To Day Parade ‘ is now available on most online stores.
Listen on Spotify , iTunes , Bandcamp
Their music has been featured on highly successful advertising campaigns reaching 100s of thousands. They have had extensive radio play, contributed to film soundtracks and were recently asked to submit their music to the British Library. They have performed many live sessions that have been watched online all over the world such as ' The Narrowboat Sessions' and 'Sofar Sounds'
QSOE have helped to revitalise the local music scene with regular performances around Wigan and by helping to organise fantastic live music events. Also putting a bimonthly event showcasing local talent and bringing in new performers from out of town to join in the music scene.
The first album ‘Lucid Dreamer’ was written , recorder and performed by band founder T.W.Jones and features interesting sonic soundscapes and hard hitting lyricism.
The lo-fi chill nature of this album has made it favorite among those who favor the more alternative side of folk.
They then in 2015 they released ‘Mon The Tudor’ a live recording which captures QSOE performing at the last ever night at the legendary Tudor venue in their hometown of Wigan. The performance featured a fantastic line up featuring - Robbie Cavanagh , Josh Hindle , Michael Frost , T.W. Jones and Arnold Foster
In that that same year the second studio album ‘ Delusions of Grandeur’ was made available as an online only download. Each track was a pastiche or homage to a specific genre encompassing several decades of influences within just one album. The album was written and recorded by TJ and Michael Frost / produced by Rachel Foster. It featured a variety of musicians including original drummer Arnold Foster.
2016 was a year mostly of a acoustic singles used mainly as soundtracks that will be released at a later date alongside new in keeping material.
QSOE released ‘Day to Day Parade’ in 2017, their most polished and professionally release to date. Recorded with local legend Gareth ‘ the wizard ‘ Nutall at the lounge the ep's jangly optimism works well against the backdrop of pop sensible but serious folk music.
The latest release ' Wax Lyrical ' consists of two parts , one with lyrics and one without and fully instrumental. Tom has explored the themes of writing / recording / producing in a solitary setting, becoming immersed in the music and consumed by the process as reflected in the artwork by the fantastic Alejandro Montoya. The instrumental tracks of the album take their names from local Northern locations/ dialect ie Standish Lights , Mab's Cross , Coral Island , and Ash-Vegas. This is set to be one of the most ambitious Quaintest projects yet and is sure resonate with fans.
