Focus days are when the Focal Ministry learning community gathers to explore focal leadership around a theme. These opportunities are for those in commissioned focal ministry and also for those who want to discover more about this new and emergent ministry.
FOCUS DAY THEME: Elijah's Mantle: Discernment in focal ministry.
A vital part of being a focal leader is drawing others out in discipleship, commitment to service and involvement in mission in their local churches. Whether as a focal leader you are just beginning your role or thinking about looking for someone to pass the mantle to - being able to discern and develop God's call on others is vital. But it can be hard - especially with a new ministry.
We will be reflecting together as a focal learning community on calling, discernment and passing on the role to another.
Across the morning we will:
- Reflect on our own roles with a view to drawing others alongside in ministry.
- Gather resources from scripture, expertise and our own experience and context to build hope for discernment in our churches.
- Be facilitated in drawing together principles for action moving back into our churches.
There will be plenty opportunity to meet others doing a similar role, learn from the experiences of others and access support and further resources for this new ministry.
