Focus On… Family: A Creative Phone Photography Adventure

📍 Golden Acre Park, Leeds. 2 Hours Max 5 people per booking (recommended age7+)

Leave the selfies behind and step into the frame together! This joyful, nature-based workshop is all about creating memories, not just capturing them. Using just your phone camera and a little creative curiosity, you’ll learn how to notice more, compose better, and tell visual stories – all while having a brilliant time outdoors as a family.

Whether you’re posing in puddles, spotting reflections, or turning tree bark into abstract art, this session is full of surprises, connection, and creative discovery.

What’s Included:

  • 2-hour guided photography session for the whole family
  • Simple techniques for framing, focus and creativity using your phone
  • Fun photo challenges designed for all ages and abilities
  • One relaxed family portrait taken by your tutor (delivered digitally)
  • Time to explore, laugh and learn together
  • Follow-up email with extra tips and photo prompts to keep the creativity flowing

Where We’ll Go:

We’ll be gently walking around beautiful Golden Acre Park – an accessible, family-friendly setting with great views, reflections, trees, open skies and natural textures galore. Perfect for capturing both landscape shots and little moments of wonder.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to make the most of your phone camera
  • Composing better photos (without shouting “stand still!” every 5 seconds)
  • Getting creative with reflections, shadows, angles and textures
  • How to see like a photographer – even if you’re 7 years old

What to Bring:

  • A phone with a working camera (one per family is fine, more if you want)
  • Weather-appropriate clothing and comfy shoes
  • Water/snacks if needed – we’ll stop if little legs need a break
  • A good sense of humour and willingness to get a bit silly!

Need to Know:

  • You’ll be walking outdoors for up to 2 hours at a very gentle pace
  • All ages welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult
  • Dogs welcome if they’re happy to be part of the creative chaos
  • The workshop will go ahead in most weather – bring waterproofs and wellies if needed! If the forecast is truly dreadful, we’ll be in touch to reschedule.

Frequently asked questions

Are refreshments included?

Refreshments aren’t included, but it’s a brilliant spot for a picnic and there’s a café on site too. I’d definitely recommend bringing some snacks and water for the family — especially if it’s a warm day or little legs need a boost
