The financial services industry is being transformed by data analytics and machine learning. The big data and pattern recognition technologies introduced by Google, Amazon and Uber are being adopted by banks. Everything is being automated, not just transactions and clearing, but customer interaction itself. This means that increasingly there will be more roles for analytically literate people, particularly for data scientists, who combine statistical and econometric skills, with data skills and coding.
This workshop, run by the data science team at Barclays, will cover a couple of real case studies drawn from their work. We will discuss the technical and commercial challenges involved try to find some good solutions. The session will be participatory and will hopefully spark your interest in thinking about data science as a career.
All welcome, especially econometricians, mathematicians and computer scientists.
