Focus on: incoming mobility routes with Arts Infopoint UK and Latitude Law
Event Information
About this Event
A free session led by Creative Europe Desk UK and immigration solicitors Latitude Law, in partnership with Arts Infopoint UK, covering incoming work and engagement routes through the lens of cross-border projects.
Find out more about the upcoming changes for UK organisations inviting EU & EEA artists and cultural professionals into the UK following the end of the transition period on 31 December 2020.
…Does your Creative Europe project run into 2021 and beyond, and have activity in the UK involving artists or other cultural professionals from EU and EEA countries?
…Do you work with EU and EEA artists, professionals and cultural organisations more broadly and would like to hear more about how you will need to take into account the new changes following the End of the Transition period?
Creative Europe Desk UK and Arts Infopoint UK have partnered together along with immigration solicitors Gary McIndoe and Shara Pledger at Latitude Law for a webinar focused on supporting UK arts, cultural and heritage organisations adapt to changes to rules on incoming short-term mobility of EU & EEA artists and other cultural professionals from 1 January 2021.
This is an online webinar, and will have live-captioning.
Who is this webinar for?
This webinar is primarily for UK organisations and professionals managing transnational, multi-annual Creative Europe projects with elements of incoming short-term mobility and activity, however we are also opening this webinar up to other UK arts, cultural and heritage organisations who are also looking to plan for future projects and work involving incoming EU & EEA artists and other professionals.
What will be covered?
The webinar will cover the various routes available – visitor route; permitted paid engagements and permit-free festivals; and Tier 5 short-term sponsored work route for the creative sector.
For the various routes, we’ll aim to examine questions such as:
- What kind of activity is and isn’t permitted?
- How long can the stay last?
- What is classified as paid work? Where do other forms of reimbursement and commissioning fit in?
- What kind of evidence, if any, is needed in order to be assured of entry in a particular route?
- What kind of timescales need to be taken into consideration?
- What other considerations need to be taken into account?
Featuring:
- Welcome and update from Creative Europe Desk UK and Arts Infopoint UK
- Presentation, examples, and Q&A on main UK incoming work and engagement routes from immigration solicitors Gary McIndoe and Shara Pledger at Latitude Law
- Insights from Taghrid Chouchair Vizoso, Shubbak Festival and Daniel Gorman, English PEN, who have previous experience in navigating incoming routes when inviting non UK-based artists and other cultural professionals
- Time for Q&A with Latitude Law
- Presentation from Marie Fol , President of On the Move, on the Mobility Info Point network, and Jana Grünewald from Touring Artists, Germany's Mobility Info Point - sources for outgoing mobility to other European countries
Share your examples ahead of the event
As part of your registration process, we ask you to give a snapshot of the kinds of incoming mobility you have in mind, so that we might be able to address some of these examples in the presentation and give some kind of indication as to which route might best suit, and what the limitations of that route may be.
The webinar will be recorded, and Latitude Law will take any questions we don’t have time to cover on the day and we’ll circulate their responses following the event.
Insights from the sector

Taghrid Chouchair Vizoso from Shubbak Festival and Daniel Gorman from English PEN, who both have extensive experience of managing incoming mobility issues, will be feeding in some insights on how working with these routes works in practice too.
Outgoing mobility to EU/EEA countries
Towards the end of the session Marie Fol, President of On the Move, will give a short presentation on the Mobility Info Point network, to give a picture of the existing kinds of information and advice available for outgoing mobility to EU and EEA countries from January onwards.
