About the event

This farm walk will be focussed on farm infrastructure for cattle in mob-grazing/rotational grazing systems – we will look at electric fencing options and setting up and design of paddocks as well as portable water infrastructure. We will also discuss cattle handling design and requirements, and the difficulties and challenges of having a herd dispersed across multiple sites. Come along armed with questions about farm infrastructure!

About Paddock Farm

Pasture For Life mentors Nick and Jon Francis of Paddock Farm are hosting - Paddock Farm is home to a herd of pasture-fed Hereford and Angus x cattle, a herd of Tamworth pigs, a flock of free-range laying hens and a market garden growing no-dig vegetables. All of their produce is sold through their butchery in Brailes, either over the retail counter or direct to chefs and restaurants.

Pasture and Profit in Protected Landscapes programe

This visit is part of the Pasture and Profit in Protected Landscapes programme, a new FiPL-funded project in the Cotswolds, Chilterns and North Wessex Downs. The project links farmers with other farmers to learn how to make more of their grazing, and how to reduce inputs to make livestock businesses more profitable.
