Overview

3 days CPD supporting the teaching of both ‘Working Scientifically’ and science content knowledge.

The Focus4TAPS programme draws together research from the Teacher Assessment in Primary Science (TAPS) project into a three day package of training, resources and activities to support teaching, learning and assessment in primary science.

Each school will receive:

- Three F2F CPD days spread across the Spring term 2026.

- Science subject leadership guidance on how to embed Focus4TAPS across the school.

- Access to a range of new and updated resources, including CPD videos for supporting colleagues back in school

- Support for gap tasks, to enable the practices to be embedded in lessons.



Day 1- 14th January 2026: Responsive Teachers

We will introduce you to the TAPS focussed assessment approach and explore how teachers can use formative assessment as a basis for responsive teaching.


Day 2 - 05th March 2026: Active Pupils

We will explore a range of active assessment strategies which promote discipliniary skills and independence in our learners.


Day 3 - 22nd April 2026: Shared Understanding

We will consider how we build a shared understanding of progression and progress in our schools.
