About this event

The Campaign for Freedom of Information in Scotland is running a two-hour course for FoI requesters online.

The 'FOI – Digging Deeper' course has been designed for UNISON members and staff. The training will focus on ways to secure transparency and accountability of public bodies in Scotland under:

  • the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act
  • the Environmental Information Scotland Regulations
  • the UK Freedom of Information Act
  • the Human Rights Act

The short course will explore in more detail pro-active publication, the 'duty to advise and assist' requestors and the 'Open Government' global initiative.

The course will provide you with Case Studies and further information on transparency and accountability of publicly funded services.

The Campaign for Freedom of Information in Scotland (CFoIS) was established in 1984 to secure a legal right of access to information so that people could find out about how they are governed and how their services are delivered. We have been involved in all the major developments of the legislation at a Scottish level. CFoIS is independent of government and relies on donations and income generated through training. CFoIS is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) SC051263.

CFoIS welcomes the opportunity to work with the public sector, civil society and the private sector so that access to information rights deliver transparency and accountability in Scotland.
