Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

We are very pleased to welcome four talented folk acts to their very first folk music evening at Tudor House Museum!

With her striking voice and strong Russian and Ingush heritage, Daria Kulesh is making a name for herself as a unique and exciting singer/songwriter. Her solo debut Eternal Child was described as 'phenomenal' by FATEA magazine and the recently-released second album Long Lost Home has already won awards in the UK and Russia. Reviewers have described it as a 'masterpiece', '10/10' and a 'definite contender for the best album of 2017.'

Self-taught from a guitar lying around in the family home, Leon Gormley has gained a growing reputation for his accomplished voice and distinctive technique. He will be bringing his Town Musicians of Bremen trio to Tudor House, which comprises Leon (guitar/cittern and vocals), Jarv Lowings (bouzouki) and Lewis Jones (nyckelharpa and melodeon). BBC’s Genevieve Tudor described Leon as having ‘more fingers than average!’

Emi McDade grew up in a musical family and has been songwriting since 14. Emi has performed on stages such as BBC Introducing, Ronnie Scott’s, Guildhall, Sofar Sounds, Thekla, The Bedford, and many others, headlining the Acoustic Stage of Dot to Dot Festival. “Effortlessly flicks between haunting and gorgeously sweet,” Alex Rogers, Radio 1 and 1Extra.

Mike Weaver returned to the live music scene four years ago to national radio play, coverage in Acoustic Magazine and praise from fellow musicians. Mike has supported the likes of Ange Hardy and Steve Ashley. “Mike always records his music live to reflect the directness and simplicity of his gigs, creating a strong focus on the lyrics.” Acoustic Magazine.

The music starts at 7.30pm, with doors open at 7.15pm.
