Event description

Description

Folk This is a monthly showcase night presenting the best Folk, Blues & Soul artists London has to offer.

Our December showcase is presented by Big House Music at The Finsbury featuring....

Tom Pointer
(Singer-Songwriter)
His distinctive soulful tone, honest lyrics and vibrant pop melodies showcase a natural talent reminiscent of James Bay, Paolo Nutini and Alabama Shakes.

His song writing caught the attention of Lewi White from Ealing studios in West London and the two bonded and started writing and recording, taking his sound to the exciting place it is now. Priding himself on his live performances, the energy of the music led to supporting Tinie Tempah in Coventry earlier this year.

Ciircus Street
(Acoustic)
Think attitude-filled, acoustic guitar mixed with perfectly harmonising vocals - uniquely described in the past as a mixture of ‘salt and honey’, displaying the contrasting, yet compatible nature of their voices.

Jonny Olley
(Indie/ Blues)
Jonny Olley is a twenty-something former bedroom-rocker turned singer-songwriter. Having grown up near to Coventry, he now lives and writes music in Nottingham. Jonny Olley creates a unique sound, blending influences, on the one hand, from his guitar heroes, such as John Frusciante and Eric Clapton and, on the other, from rappers and lyricists, such as Mike Skinner and Jamie T.

Recently winning the acclaimed national music competition Open Mic UK for his age category (21 and over), Jonny Olley has already started 2017 with a bang. Despite gigging for little over two years he has already shared stages with acts such as Skinny Lister, Will Varley, Marc O'Reilly, Gallery 47, Adam Ficek (of Babyshambles) and Dan Owen as well as playing Nottingham's Dot to Dot and Hockley Hustle festivals two years running. He also made his first appearances last summer at Derbyshire's Y NOT, Nottingham's Splendour and Coventry's Godiva festivals.

(RnB/ Soul)
White man, DIY, R&B music infused with Folk, Soul, Rock, Jazz and whatever sound that seems appropriate at the time to tell tales of the human condition. Former lead man of ‘Wild Rossa and The ’88’, LAPP is now attempting to do a Zayn and form his very own one man wolf pack.

Zola Marcelle.
