Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

Glasgow’s hottest new folk property, five-piece Ímar have created more than a bit of a stir in little over a year since their formation.

The Irish and Manx flavoured quintet now present their debut album - Afterlight - released on January 27, 2017, at their official Celtic Connections debut in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

Ímar’s unmistakable synergy centres on the overlapping cultural heritage between Scotland, Ireland and the Isle of Man. All three places once shared the same Gaelic language, and a similar, clearly potent, kinship endures between their musical traditions.

“definitely an act to watch!” Songlines

JOSIE DUNCAN is a young singer-songwriter and celtic harpist from the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. Her music is strongly rooted in traditional song and has developed into her own eclectic style of song writing. Whilst studying Scots song, Gaelic song and harp at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Josie has supported artists such as Rachel Sermanni, Blair Dunlop, Colin Macleod and Eduardo Nieble.

Josie released her EP 'The Unknown' in November 2015. The EP is a mix of traditional and self-penned songs and it is available on itunes and spotify.
