Folklub - Paul McKenna Band + Iona Fyfe & Luc McNally
Wed 31 May 2017, 20:00 – 23:00 BST
Combining their love for traditional and folk music as well as original songs and tunes the Paul McKenna Band have been playing to audiences throughout the UK since 2006.
With a contemporary approach to songs, although not straying too far from their roots, their arrangements are both fresh and innovative.
Their exciting sound is created through outstanding vocals, driving Guitar and Bouzouki, intense Fiddle playing, a warm pairing of Flute and Whistles and dynamic Bodhrán and percussion.
A new collaboration, Iona and Luc combine North East Scots and English song to showcase the rich wealth of British folksong and its regional variants.
Luc McNally, a guitarist and singer originally from Dipton, County Durham performs in outfits including Snuff Box and Dosca. He released a solo self-titled EP in 2016 and has newly released "Playing For Free" with trio Snuffbox.
Originally from Huntly, Iona is an award-winning folksinger and is a regular in the ballad competitions circuit across Scotland. A BBC Radio Scotland Young Trad Finalist and student at RCS, Iona has released her debut EP, East, paying homage to the folksong of the East of Scotland.
