Folklub - Pons Aelius + The Hur
Fri 21 April 2017, 20:00 – 23:00 BST
After forming in mid-2014, Pons Aelius wasted no time making a name for themselves on the live circuit, winning a prestigious Danny Kyle award at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival in January. Since, they have stunned audiences with headline sets at Hexham Gathering, Sage Gateshead and Dentdale Music and Beer Festival, as well as making their first overseas trip to Norway’s Rauland Internasjonale Vinterfestival.
Now in their third year as a band, Pons Aelius have toured the UK three times and established a committed following with their reputation as one of the premier live acts in the North East. They have recently finished recording their debut album, which is set for release in the summer of 2017. Mixed by Matty Foulds at Caribou Recording and mastered by Stuart Hamilton at Castlesound Studios, it’s not to be missed!
The Hur are a new five-piece Folk Pop band based in Glasgow who combine traditional melodies with modern original songs. Formed in late 2016, The Hur have already taken 2017 by storm with the video release of their debut song 'Still Standing' which has had a very impressing reaction on social media. The Hur are already waiting to announce shows at some of Scotland's high-profile music festivals.
Their debut track, 'Still Standing', which was written by band members Iain Wilson and Charlie Galloway, features ALDOC's 'In Halle' from Alan Doherty's latest album. The track was produced and engineered by Angus Lyon at Grans House studios.
