CAPITAL letters, bold fonts and exclamation!!!! marks don’t suffice in describing just how excited we are about #FBC14 (!!!!)
Summer 2014, June 6-8 (to be precise) will mark the 6th edition of the conference. Just like last year, FBC will be held at theBattersea Arts Centre, but this time we’ve booked the Grand Hall to accommodate our growing community of bloggers in style!
With each edition comes something new to the party, this year’s theme is focusing on ‘pushing boundaries’ and, in keeping with our topic, we’ve opened up FBC’s community. On top of purely food bloggers, we are also delighted to welcome travel, technology and lifestyle bloggers et al to the conference, an epicurean love connecting everyone present through different media. Whether blogging is your hobby, career or dream, the conference is for you, bringing together anyone and everyone who uses the web as a platform to promote their passions.
From our humble beginnings, we’ve quickly become the world’s leading international food blogging conference, and, intrinsic to this idea, we’ve always made it a point to invite the industry’s greatest. Having said that though, this year’s jam-packed line-up may just be the best one yet with a plethora of exciting star names and rising talents.
Amongst the newcomers, we are delighted to welcome celebrity duo Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi (who, on a geopolitical level, literally push boundaries) and, together withGreg Malouf and our very own Bethany Kehdy, we’re in for a gourmand taste of the rising Middle Eastern food trend.
Further afield, Monica Bhide will be flying in from Stateside, opening up the discussion about why food and travel writing matter while giving tips on how to stand out from the crowd. Meanwhile, Food Network TV chef Nichola Smith, along with TV producer Kelley Ralph, will discuss how Nichola trucked her way onto television. We’ve also invited some of the industries greats for a rounded discussion on cookbook publishing.
Get ready to put your thoughts to the typing pad with the mechanics of food and travel writing! If two writing labs weren’t enough to celebrate, we’re taking you on a visual trip with travel and lifestyle photographer Marte Forsberg, whileDonal Skehan joins us from Ireland to go behind the shoot in two [yes two!] photography labs.
Joined by former television turned web producer, Babette Papaj is crossing the pond to debunk all things tech and even your next app! Of course, blogging wouldn’t be possible without the nitty gritty and we’ve got you covered! From WordPress wizard labs and content planners to social media, monetising and branding, you’ll walk away with the tools, skills and inspiration for your biggest blog make-over or start-up yet!
As the saying goes, ‘the proof is in the pudding’ and FBC has never just been about discussing food. Following on from the success of the strEAT Party of the last few years, this time around we’ve made sure to bring in some of the UK’s most innovative and exciting street feeders to serve the kind of food that justifies London’s international reputation as one of the world’s most exciting culinary destinations.
With the line up catering across both cultural and international boundaries, there will be an option for every food lover there, from vegan to carnivore, providing a feast you’re not going to forget anytime soon. Already in the mix are ‘Vegan Peasant’ and Pan African ‘Ying Tasty’ while ‘Two Hungry Bees’ cook up bowls of Vietnamese noodles and vegetarian spring rolls and invite bloggers to roll up their sleeves to take part in a hands on demo to make their specialty spring rolls, too!
In addition, one of the stars of last year’s show, Moose Maple Butter, are making a reappearance alongside returning FBC strEAT Party Alumni Feeders Terra Rossa, African Volcano, Gran Luchitoand Coconut Chili!
This year though we’re adding to the party. We believe food is for sharing and the expression of a genuine passion for all things culinary is accessible to all. We’ve opened up the outdoor Food Lab [accessible to all pass holders, too] to host a range of eclectic demos including Mixmag’s DJ of the year and the proud owner of two BBQ pop up restaurants, DJ Seth Troxler!
What’s more, on top of the beats and eats, the strEAT will have a Kitchen Corner hosting our favourite chef demos which we will be announcing soon. But, not content with just focusing on the food, we’ll provide you with some giggles with our fun loving foodies in the Krackin kitchen starring comedian Kelley D and musical maestro Jamie Cruisey as they sprinkle some humour to the proceedings with their food filled, audience participation comedy gameshow “Mental…Chicken Oriental” and more! We’re also encouraging our bloggers to push the boundaries with our “off the wall” photography headshot area where bloggers can have fun with their profile picture.
In addition, many of this year’s award-winning authors will be at the FBC BookSTORE, where you can purchase and get your books signed.
Have a look at the cooked up programme here and join the growing community, take part in the fun and push your own boundaries!
Tickets for a Weekend Pass, which includes access to talks, over 10 labs, meet-and-greets with some of the industry’s greatest, comical entertainment, beats, delicious eats and refreshing treats, are only £199 but the price will increase to £239 any day now – So go ahead and book your ticket now!
Once you register, you will receive a code to access and register for the labs. When nabbing a lab, please make sure you are not double booking yourself by registering for two labs during the same time as this reduces access for other delegates.

We look forward to seeing you soon and don’t forget to bring your appetites!
