New for 2019 is the Food Brand Nutrition Crash Course (FBNCC) - essential for founders, marketing managers and foodie consultants alike who want to learn more about science-based nutrition and how it can enhance their brand.

This interactive 5-week, online course will walk you through the very basics of nutrition and discuss the current trends in the industry that your brand needs to know about!

The FBNCC was developed by Emily Foster, RD and licensed nutrition and health experts (registered dietitians & nutritionists) at Glowing Potential. All the material is taught live by a registered dietitian or nutritionist allowing the sessions to be interactive and act as a unique group-consulting experience.

*Recordings, recommended reading as well as supporting material is available for each section post live class.


SECTION One: Exploring Energy (May 14th)

This section discusses calories: where they come from, recommendations and why weight loss isn’t just as simple as eating fewer of them. Discussions will be had around how brands talk about calories on and off pack as well as menu labelling for restaurants.

SECTION Two: Exploring Nutrients (May 21st)

It’s not all about the “macros”! Learn the difference between micro and macronutrients and get familiar with how and why nutrient content can change from food to food. Discussions will be had about how brands talk about macronutrients in nutrition labelling claims. The very basics on the types of fat, carbohydrates and protein will be covered.

SECTION Three: Life stages and needs (May 28th)

Every brand’s ideal customer is a little bit different. In section three we dive into more specific nutrition needs and topics of various life stages. Pregnancy and infants, children, young adults, specific topics for women, specific topics for men and the elderly will be covered. Discussions will be had around how you can better serve your customer when understanding their life stage and if it may be beneficial to tweak the way you're currently marketing their product(s) accordingly.

SECTION Four: Diets & Trends (June 4th)

It’s so easy to want to jump on the latest fad diet trend when it promises perks like immortality! Learn how to spot a fad diet, as well as understand some more science-based trends such as plant-based diets and sustainability guidelines. Other items to be covered will be the very basics of sports nutrition and a discussion around changes in the outlook of weight loss/management.

SECTION Five: Hot Topic & Reading Research (June 11th)

This section equips you with the know-how to question articles in the media and beyond. Learn how to navigate a research article and what is meant by a “hierarchy of evidence” – and why this is important for your brand. The hot topic will change from course to course based on what current trends are and the desires of course attendees. Some examples are: probiotics, research updates on mental health & nutrition, sleep & how it effects eating patterns.
