Event description
Level 3 safeguarding training with expert speakers and panel discussion exploring approaches to successfully managing Eating Disorders.

About this Event

This level 3 annual update in safeguarding children will cover the key aspects and approaches to managing eating disorders. The training, delivered along with Maynei Hayeshua Mental Health Centre, Israel, is suitable for education, healthcare and allied professionals, as well as survivors, their carers and families, and will be facilitated by Dr Sharon Raymond, Out of hours GP and Medical Lead in the London area, Named GP for safeguarding children for 2 London Clinical Commissioning Groups, and independent safeguarding adults and children trainer, and author.

Contributing speakers include -

- Professor Rael Strous, Medical Director of the Mayanei Hayeshua Mental Health Centre, Israel, where he is also Professor of psychiatry at Tel Aviv University’s Faculty of Medicine; member of national committees on mental health and suicide prevention; chief editor of the Israel Journal of Psychiatry; and chair of the National Psychiatry Association Ethics Committee. He completed psychiatry training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NY, and was a clinical research fellow in psychopharmacology at Harvard Medical School.

- Dr Erica Cini, Clinical Team Lead & Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, East London Community Eating Disorder Service for Children and Young People, East London NHS Foundation Trust; Honorary Associate Professor, University College London;

- Patricia Brown, Head of Student Welfare, Designated Safeguarding Lead , Cambridge Tutors College, Croydon;

- Diana H, a survivor, producer and actress, who has recently produced a short film exploring experiences of eating disorders

- Dr Lisa Racussen (MBChB, MRCPsych)Consultant Child and Adolescent psychiatrist with 20 years of NHS experience working with children with the full range of mental health disorders in a variety of clinical settings, including at an inpatient facility treating children with eating disorders. Dr Racussen specialised at Great Ormond Street Hospital after completing her medical degree in South Africa. She trained in Family Based Therapy (FBT) for Anorexia Nervosa. She is currently in independent practice in North London.
