Event description
A conference for those who want to broaden their understanding of the food agenda and how we can build sustainable & inclusive food networks
About this event
The food crisis didn’t start with COVID-19, it started long before:
- when we stopped shopping locally
- when we didn't think about where our food came from
- when we started eating out as much as eating in
- when we started buying from chain restaurants and stopped cooking from scratch
- when food was lost from the curriculum as 'domestic science' and came back under the 'technology' umbrella
- when foodbanks replaced affordable food
- when we put profit before health
- when we started buying products not ingredients
- when we started eating carbage and mistook it for food
- when we allowed food to go to waste when people were going hungry.
Food for Health not Wealth will explore why we must act NOW, or risk a landslide of poor health and health-related issues.
Our talks and speakers will be:
Food for Britain - Andrew Forsey, Director of Feeding Britain
Food Waste - Gareth Batty, CEO of FareShare Yorkshire
Food Savings - Tess Wilkins, Coordinator of FoodSavers
