Food for Thought with The Spark: Strengthening Our Local Food Community

“What are we feeding our children?”

Dan Ware of The Spark and Claire King of The Nutrition Advisory Team/Nutri-Kit have teamed up for the second in a series of talks about food.

We invite you to join us for an open and engaging fireside chat with a panel of speakers (full details coming soon - watch out for our social media posts).

This evening is designed as a hug for parents — a safe and supportive space to be honest about the challenges of feeding our families.

Together, we’ll explore topics relating to family, community and the local food system framing our discussions around some key questions:

  • How can we cook for varied needs — from picky eaters to growing children navigating hormone changes?
  • What practical steps help families budget and manage food costs — especially when money is tight?
  • How do we reduce food waste at home and in the community — and make better use of surplus food through places like food banks?
  • What role do schools, caterers, and procurement play in making sure more of our food comes from local growers and farmers?
  • In what ways does marketing and advertising shape our children’s food choices — and how can parents and communities respond?
