Food Matters: Our choices affect climate, 1.00-4.30pm Wednesday 26 October at Summerhall, 1 Summerhall Square EH9 1PL
You are invited to the second of six Edinburgh Conversations - raising awareness and laying the foundation for a Low Carbon Edinburgh. This afternoon session will explore how our everyday dietary choices - the food we eat and where it comes from - all have a greater or lesser impact on climate chaos.
What does "locavore" mean? And do "food miles" matter? How much greenhouse gas emissions are associated with meat and dairy production? What can and should we do at home and in our workplaces?
Keynote: Heather Anderson, co-Proprietor of Whitmuir Farm and local food champion
with Eleanor Cunningham, Proprietor, Edinburgh Larder, on local provenance and
Richard Whiston, Community Gardener, Gracemount Grows Stronger, Transition Edinburgh South
This event will showcase the Edible Edinburgh initiative and the Edinburgh Food Charter - part of the Edinburgh Sustainable Food City.
