Event description

Description

The workshop will cover:

  • Mindfulness techniques
  • Empowering parents to make healthy nutrition choices and understand eating habits of their children
  • Recognising the role of diet on mood
  • Low sugar symptoms can be misdiagnosed as depression
  • The role of gut health in ASD/ADHD
  • Allergies and food toxins

Roisin Armstrong from Life Therapies Clinic will facilitate this session highlighting the crucial link between diet and mental health, addictions and emotional regulation.

Members attending the ‘Food and Mood’ workshop will be tasked with exploring their own experiences when working with children, young people and families through their daily work and how informed education about nutritional changes and lifestyle techniques can be integrated into a home environment.

The Empower project is a Big Lottery funded initiative through the Reaching Out Supporting Families Programme which support Families across Mid Ulster and Antrim & Newtownabbey Council areas. The focus of the project is to support children under 12 with Autism, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia, their parents and the wider family circle to enhance confidence and learn together to develop skills to support their children.
