Food Safety (Level 1)

Course Outline

Everyone who works with food has a special responsibility for safeguarding the health of consumers and ensuring the food they serve or sell is perfectly safe to eat.

For anyone new to food safety, new employees working in low-risk environments and anyone with an interest in safe food preparation at home.

On completion delegates will be able to:

• Explain what food safety means
• Describe different food safety hazards
• Describe how to control temperature and keep foods out of the danger zone
• Explain how to handle foods safely
• Understand the principles of safe food storage
• Maintain and clean and hygienic working environment
• Personal Hygiene

Food Safety (Level 1) is for anyone handling food (for example a care worker assisting a resident to eat). If you are involved in the preparation of food, then you will also require Food Safety (Level 2) which is a more advanced Food Safety course .
