Can I write a true story under a pseudonym?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can. If you were the winner or runner up and didn't want to reveal your identity then that would naturally mean you wouldn't be able to attend the discussion panel  we have planned for the Hastings Book Festival in Sept.

Can I enter more than one story?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but remember that with each new story you need to pay the fee. For example, if you write 3 stories you need to make a payment of 3 x £8 (or 3 x £4 if you are choosing the concessionary rate)

What if I accidentally send the wrong version, can I retract it and send an updated version?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately not because it will be too difficult to track. Please double check before sending your story it is the final version.

Question 4

What if I forget to send you the Eventbrite payment receipt number?

Accepted Answer

We will see your name when you send the story after purchasing the entry fee so do not worry. We can match the fee paid and the person's name. The judge will receive the stories without identifying information

Who are the judges?

Please read the profile of the judges on our Eventbrite page. It'll tell you what they enjoy in food stories.

Do you give feedback on stories submitted?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately, no we do not have the capacity to respond with feedback to every story submitted.

Question 7

Unpublished story means what?

Accepted Answer

We consider a story to have been published in a literary journal, website or book either online or physical. Stories published on author's own webpages or social media accounts also count as published.  To be clear, we want unread stories!
