Event description

Description

In November 1942 the Beveridge Report was published, paving the way for the Welfare State and fundamentally changing the relationship between Church and State. 75 years later we are facing countless questions about the future of the Welfare State. In their book, For Good, the Church and the future of Welfare, Sam Wells, Russell Rook and David Barclay chart the recent renewal of social action in the UK church, explore growing opportunities for local churches to deliver community services and reassess the role of the Church and the Government in delivering welfare and tackling poverty. For Good is the result of a 2-year research project led by a partnership between the Oasis Foundation, St Martin-in-the-Fields, the Good Faith Partnership and the Bible Society.

The book launch will take place at Lambeth Palace on Thursday 16th November, and will feature discussions between the authors and leading figures from the worlds of church, politics and public policy. Join us to engage with this important contribution to a crucial debate for the future of welfare in the UK.

Lunch will be provided.
