Event description

Description

Some universities are lucky enough to have dedicated conference accommodation. Many others rely on student accommodation to house conference guests.

Student accommodation has to meet certain minimum standards, principally as set out in the Housing Act 2004 and the applicable UUK or ANUK code of standards. Are these standards sufficient when operating as a hostel or hotel?

This conference looks at key legal aspects of running conferences and opening student accommodation to tourists. It explains how group bookings are treated differently from individual bookings, and why business to business contracts (B2B) can contain stricter terms than business to consumer (B2C) contracts.
