For Peat's Sake
Event Information
About this Event
Against the background of the climate crisis, the coronavirus pandemic has turned the world upside down, exposing major weaknesses in our economy and the inequalities in our society that mean the most vulnerable people have been hit the hardest. With rising unemployment, we urgently need good quality, unionised, green jobs. Join High Peak Build Back Better and Green New Deal UK for an event on the importance of peatland conservation and restoration in combating climate change and creating jobs.
Join us online on the 1st of December 7-9pm to discuss the massive potential moorlands have. Speakers include:
Jody Vallance from the Moors for the Future Partnership, which delivers a landscape scale programme of blanket bog restoration across the Peak District and South Pennine moors.
Matthew Paterson, Professor of International Politics at University of Manchester, who focuses on environmental politics, especially climate change politics.
Hazel Draper from the For Peat’s Sake Campaign, a group of activists campaigning and sharing information on all things related to peat and its protection.
