About this event
During periods of restrictions due to Covid-19 the Government instructed and made funding available to adapt town centres and high streets to enable traders to do business under the various restrictions in place to keep communities safe.
Experimental measures were put in place on Thornbury High Street to reallocate space normally used by vehicles for shops to display more produce and serve customers safely. These measures helped many businesses trade safely under the very difficult circumstances and allowed residents to feel safe about returning to and supporting local employers.
Following a period of consultation, a future vision for the High Street was agreed that supports a thriving high streets with new investment to improve the public realm and supports changes in how people shop.
The vision includes motorised access that supports the economic activity of the High Street with customer pick-ups and drop-offs, space will be provided for businesses to expand outdoors and space will be given to promote active travel, such as walking and cycling.
This session is for local people to see images of the High Street and other road improvements and ask questions, tickets are for 15 minute slots.
