Event description

Description

No coffee after midday else your mind will be rattling all night? Waking at 5am with the midsummer sun? Looking forward to Game of Thrones, but if those strange dragon dreams return you’ll end up looking like one of the zombie White Walkers? You are not alone. Periods of sleep deprivation happen to the best of us. But for some, the ongoing battle to get oneself comfortably off to Bedfordshire has become a debilitating pain in the proverbial.

As part of Fora’s “How To…” wellbeing academy series, the insomnia-fighting guru Guy Meadows will guide guests through the Sleep School’s five steps to overcoming insomnia by building a strong and robust sleeping pattern. Dr Meadows is author of The Sleep Book – How to Sleep Well Every Night a revolutionary new way to overcome insomnia that has garnered rave reviews online.

The talk will be packed full of helpful tips and tools. If you have a problem getting to sleep, staying asleep or sleeping deeply, then this is for you. There is, of course, no shame in admitting that sleep can elude you – one third of the population feels the same. When you’ve tried all the medicines, homeopathic remedies, warm milky bedtime drinks, relaxation techniques, pills, hypnotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy – and nothing has worked, then it’s time to seek professional counsel. Dr Meadows has discovered the secret lies not in what you do, but what you learn not to do, using a blend of mindfulness and new ACT therapy techniques.

This is your chance to fend off all the negatives that come with sleep deprivation, such as weight problems, memory impairment, reduced concentration, health issues and depression.

You will hear:

  • An introduction to the importance of good quality sleep on long-term health and wellbeing
  • The Sleep School’s 5 steps to overcoming insomnia
  • How your current attempts to fix your sleep could be keeping you awake
  • How to mindfully accept and welcome your fearful thoughts and sensations
  • How to build yourself a strong and robust sleeping pattern

So, sleep well, maintain a positive outlook and restore the quality of life you deserve – for good.
