About this event

  • 3 hours

We will meet for 10am at the Cwmamman United AFC car park, what 3 words location - ///paces.class.riverbed.

The weather will be assessed the night before and by 8am the day of the event, any Event Leader cancellations due to unsafe weather conditions will be fully refunded.

The walk will start at approximately 10.15am after everyone has been registered and emergency contact details/dietary information is double-checked.

We will walk along towards Pontamman, spotting and identifying different seasonal plants along the way, while discussing ethical foraging principles, toxic lookalike plants, ID resources and how to harvest sustainably. The walk will be approximately 1 hour, depending on the group dynamic and availability of seasonal plants.

We will then walk back towards our starting point where there is a clearing to set up a fire pit, camp-fire and cooking equipment. We will prepare a simple recipe using our foraged plants.

The workshop will finish at approximately 1pm, back at the car park, you will be able to take away any spare plants we have foraged and some recipe suggestions/ID resources to cook with them at home.

PLEASE NOTE: The recipes we will use will be vegetarian, but I cannot guarantee that they will be suitable for vegans/gluten or dairy allergies. I will need to know any food or plant allergies/dietary issues prior to the day. The walk is paved, but we will stray off the path at some points, this ground may be slippery, overgrown or uneven, adequate walking footwear and full-leg trousers are advised. You are welcome to bring a camp chair along to rest while the campfire food is cooking. There are no nearby toilet facilities.

Children over the age of 8 welcome, but MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times.
