Forage and feast with Eden wild food and Madam & Adam, Hereford
Sun 4 June 2017, 16:00 – 19:00 BST
A fantastic opportunity to not only learn what nature has to offer, but to sample some foraged cuisine from one of Herefords best new restaurants Madam & Adam. (https://www.facebook.com/madamadamhfd)
This foray will aim to help you identify around 20+ species of edible wild plants and how to differentiate for poisonous species. We will discuss how to prepare and use them for food or medicine.
The course is being led by Matthew Normansell of Eden Wild Food and chef/forager Kerry Woodfield of Woodfield Wild. This means more expertise is available and more opportunity to ask 1-2-1 questions,
The walk will take approximately 2 hours, we will start by meeting in Hereford (location will be given upon booking, walkable from the centre). This will cover a mix of aquatic, semi aquatic and grassland species you are likely to find. There will be opportunities to taste things we find and you can collect samples to take home and experiment with.
The walk is easy going so children are welcomed on the course, dogs are permitted but are the responsibility of the owner and must be kept under control.
The 2 hour walk will end at the restaurant, where guests will enjoy a foraged inspired meal cooked by head chef Swav and Kerry. Sample menu below, subject to change, but will be similar.
Canape: Hogweed and wild carrot seed potato crisps (or similar wild seasoning)
Starter: Fine tartlet of wild mushrooms, with a wild herb salad
Main: Coffee & Douglas fir rubbed wood pigeon, black pudding, wilted wild greens, pickled apple.
