Foraging Workshop with Martin Rollins

Saturday 21st September | 10am until 4pm

An unmissable day foraging around the beautiful surroundings of Hanwell Wine Estate.

Wander through the vineyard, expert tutor, Martin will point out all the edible and medicinal plants which could make a healthy addition to your diet. You’ll be encouraged to enjoy the pure and natural flavours of freshly harvested plants as Martin introduces unique flavours you can weave into your meals. By the end of the session, you should be able to confidently identify several edible wild plants and will go home with lots of ideas to try in your own kitchen. You will also get the chance to get hands-on with some of the plants you have foraged and learn how to prepare and made some great dishes.

After your forage you will learn how to prepare the plants and cook lunch on an open fire, making-

Doc, Nettle and Dandelion Quiche with Hedge Garlic Mayonnaise Potatoes, Hogweed in butter and an added extra take away from your day- Cleaver salve/lip balm.

Outline of the day

10:00 Welcome with refreshments

10:05 Introduction to tutor Martin, orientation and health and safety

10:15 Set off on your forage around the estate

12.30 Return to prepare and eat your lunch, served with a glass of local wine

16:00 Wrap up and home time

About your tutor Martin Rollins

Martin is an expert in teaching bushcraft skills. Formerly Head of Outdoor Education for Lincolnshire’s Teaching and Learning Centres. He now owns and manages his own outdoor-focused business. His knowledge of outdoor survival and wood carving is exceptional.

To ensure the quality of your personal experience, group size will be limited to 15.
